Use series wiring when you need to increase system voltage.
For two 12V batteries:
- Connect the positive terminal of Battery 1 to the negative terminal of Battery 2.
- The remaining negative terminal becomes the system negative.
- The remaining positive terminal becomes the system positive.
The voltage adds together while amp-hour capacity remains the same.
Two 12V 100Ah batteries = 24V 100Ah
Before connecting batteries in series:
- Confirm the battery model supports series operation.
- Use matching batteries.
- Bring the batteries to a similar state of charge.
- Use a charger designed for the voltage of the completed bank.
