Batteries

The right battery depends on your required voltage, amp-hour capacity, maximum continuous current, peak or cranking current, physical dimensions, and intended application. Dakota Lithium offers batteries designed for different uses, including deep cycle, starting, dual purpose, marine, RV, powersports, golf cart, and off-grid applications. Always use the specifications for the specific battery you're considering rather than assuming all Dakota Lithium batteries have the same capabilities.

Voltage describes the electrical potential of the battery, while amp-hours (Ah) describe the battery’s charge capacity. When comparing batteries at the same voltage, a higher Ah rating generally means more stored energy and longer potential runtime. Watt-hours (Wh) provide a better measure of total stored energy because they account for both battery voltage and capacity.

Continuous amps is the amount of current a battery can deliver for an extended period under its specified conditions. Peak or cranking current is the higher amount of current a battery can provide for a short period, such as when starting an engine. The appropriate specification depends on whether your application requires sustained power, engine starting, or both.

Yes, multiple Dakota Lithium batteries can be connected together, but allowable configurations vary by battery model. Some batteries can be connected in parallel to increase capacity or runtime, while compatible batteries can be connected in series to increase system voltage. Always check the specifications for your specific battery model to confirm the approved series and parallel configurations and maximum system voltage before connecting multiple batteries.

We recommend using a LiFePO₄-compatible charger designed for lithium iron phosphate batteries and matched to the voltage and charging requirements of your specific Dakota Lithium battery. Charging voltage and current requirements can vary by battery model, so always verify the battery and charger specifications before use.
