I am a commercial fisherman, and I use an electric trolling motor to give my boat trolling speed when I am fishing for fluke. My boat is 20 feet long and weighs 2000 lbs, but my 46 lb thrust motor, powered by a Dakota 12V, 54A battery, does a great job in getting the boat up to the 1mph trolling speed I need. Most important, the battery weighs only about 11 lbs, a great improvement over the 60-plus lb deep cycle battery I used to have to lug around. My purchase of a Dakota Lithium battery is one of the best moves I’ve ever made, both for my catch totals and the health of my 80 year-old back!
