Technical Specifications

  • 11 Year Warranty: World beating, best in class, eleven year manufacturer defect warranty.
  • Storage Capacity: 135 ampere hours (Ah). Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 60 or 135 amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.
  • Voltage: 38.2V (three 12.8V batteries to be wired in series). This set is intended for 36V applications. (Dakota Lithium 12V batteries can be used in series up to 48V max)
  • Energy: 768 or 1728 Watts (Wh) per battery
  • Terminals: F12 terminals (posts that screw in). Easy to adapt to different connection needs. (Max torque 15 ft. lbs.) (Max 5 ft. lbs. if using included terminal post adapters)
  • Size: 9.5”L x 6.9”W x 8.22”H (242.5mm x 176mm x 209mm) Group 24 equivalent
  • Weight: 16.5 lbs (7.5 Kg). 65% lighter than a SLA or lead battery. OR 27.2 lbs (12.3Kg) per battery for the 135 Ah
  • Lifecycles (battery lifespan): Up to 80% capacity for 5,000 cycles in recommended conditions. The typical SLA has 500 cycles. Dakota Lithium batteries last so long that the price per use is a fraction of traditional batteries.
  • Operating temperature: Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium’s. -20'F min, +120'F max optimal discharging temps (battery performs well down to -20'F). Charging 32'F to 120'F. (charge above freezing)
  • Discharge: 100 A max continuous, 650 A max pulse 10 second pulse, 1,000 CCA per battery (a single DL+ battery has the power to start your car). The flat discharge voltage curve provides a 75% bigger capacity then a comparable SLA battery. For carts with a controller greater than 200 Amps the DL+ 135Ah is recommended. If unsure of how many amps your golf cart motor uses buy the DL+ 135Ah or install a 100 Amp fuse if using the DL+ 60Ah.
  • Motor Controller Limit: The 18-25 mile 60Ah battery is compatible with motor controllers up to 400A and can handle up to 650 Amps of in rush current. The 60 mile 135Ah battery has a 400 Amp max for the motor controller. If you do not know how many amps your golf cart's motor uses then we recommend the 50 mile 135Ah battery set. It is compatible with nearly all golf cart motors on the market.
  • Charge: 50 A max, 14 V max recommended, 15 V max. A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery.
  • Includes active BMS protection: Contains a circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff, high voltage cutoff, short circuit protection and high temperature protection for increased performance and longer life. A LiFePO4 battery charger is required to turn the battery back on after a BMS cut off.
  • Cold weather protection: Excellent performance and use down to -20'F. Charing below freezing is not recommended. The DL+ batteries include a cold temperature charging protection cut off
  • Internal Heating for Winter Use: The DL+ 12V 135Ah battery set includes internal heating for charging when below 0C/32F. Excellent choice for winter warriors.
  • Recommended Charger: 36v 8 amp LiFePO4 charger (Sold Separate)
  • 11 Year Warranty

FAQ
  • Twice the Power?

Yes! Here at Dakota Lithium we build all of our batteries with lithium iron phosphate technology which has many distinct advantages over traditional batteries. Including 60% less weight, a charging speed that is up to 5X faster, and a significantly longer lifespan (5-10 years longer on average). One of the most noticeable advantages however is the flat voltage curve. Unlike a lead acid battery where the voltage drops as you use the battery a Dakota Lithium battery has a steady voltage for 99% of the battery’s charge. That means you get all the power down to the last drop and double the usable power of traditional batteries.

  • Are Lithium Batteries Safe?

Dakota Lithium batteries are 100% safe & reliable. Our signature chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), does not contain rare earth elements (like Cobalt) or heavy metals, is non-toxic, including no lead or acid, is non-corrosive, does not off gas, requires no watering or maintenance, can be placed in any orientation, and unlike other lithium batteries will not explode or catch fire. In addition, each Dakota Lithium battery is protected from over heating, over charging, and short circuiting, by a battery management system (BMS) microchip that also extends the lifespan and is contained in a rugged, waterproof case (although enough water can conduct electricity between the terminals, so don’t submerse the battery). For best performance & reliability we recommend using a LiFePO4 charger.

  • How do I charge a lithium battery?

Dakota Lithium LiFePO4 batteries perform best when charged by a LiFePO4-compatible battery charger. LiFePO4 batteries require a different charging profile and voltage requirements compared to traditional battery chargers. Chargers designed for different chemistries may work, but they may not charge a Dakota Lithium battery to full capacity. It’s important to select a charger that has a LiFePO4-compatible constant-current constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging profile, provides the correct charging voltage for your battery, does not exceed the charge current (amp) for the battery, and has a charge indicator LED to let you know when the battery is fully charged. You can find more information on How to Charge Dakota Lithium and LiFePO4 batteries on our website. If you need help finding a compatible charger for your Dakota Lithium battery, or if you want to check your current charger compatibility, please reach out to our support team.

  • Will cold weather affect my battery?

Your Dakota Lithium battery will discharge normally between a range of -20F and 120F (-29C to 49C). DL batteries are commonly used among ice fishers for their flashers and ice augers, so they are quite resilient and are frequently used in cold climates. In cases of extreme cold however, it is recommended that the batteries be insulated. We also do not recommend charging our batteries below freezing temperatures. If you are planning to regularly charge your battery below freezing temperatures we recommend the DL+ 12V 135Ah battery which has an internal heating element and is optimal for use in cars, trucks, RVs, off grid solar, and any application where the battery will be charged regularly in extremely cold environments (like a North Dakota winter).

  • What battery do I need for my RV or Camper Van?

The industry standard house battery size used in most RVs, Campers, and #VanLife builds is the DL 100Ah battery. This is a drop in replacement for AGM and most lead acid batteries. If you are charging off your engine’s alternator we recommend a Victron DC-DC smart charger. If charging off solar panels we recommend a Victron Smart Solar charge controller, or if you have a solar charge controller choose the lithium setting. A handy size chart for number of batteries needed by size of RV is available here.

more power less weight

Replaced batteries in an old 36v Yamaha golf cart. I expect the batteries to outlast the cart but maybe the reduced weight will make it last longer. I used straps to hold the batteries as their height meant that the original clamps couldn't screw down far enough. After I finished I realized that I could have used a tap to get the clamps to work.

So far I am well pleased

Kevin Leonard

Two years back, I purchased a 1998 TXT EZGO Golf Cart to be kept at our summer home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It came with 6 (6v) Deep Cell Batteries in it. They were a bit old and by year two of use (not being able to store indoors and winter exposure to UP Michigan weather) the batteries lacked the power to go more than a couple miles per charge. I began researching replacement batteries about a year ago, and came across Dakota Lithium Batteries being advertised on Instagram and Facebook. Reviews were solid, but as with all lithium batteries, prices were also quite steep. After going back and forth comparing cost to value - I finally reached the decision to purchase the Dakota Lithium 36V Golf Cart Battery Set. When they arrived, it took me about half a day to get the old batteries out, things cleaned up, and the new batteries installed. Since these batteries are much smaller and lighter (seriously - it shaved over 350lbs off the golf cart), much of the installation process was taking out old heavy deep cell batteries, stripping out old wiring, and reinforcing the storage area so that I could strap down the new set to minimize their movement while in use. NOTE: you will need to charge each battery fully before hooking up into a series (took about 3 hours per battery for this first charge). Once installed, the difference was felt immediately! When I pressed on the pedal the acceleration was felt, throwing both my son and I back in the seat. We both laughed and gunned it, with less weight and the power of these batteries we were going faster than ever before. We ran back and forth to town (about 2.5 Miles round trip) five times over the week and never felt a loss of power/speed at anytime. I would've likely drove it to town at least two more times, but we were leaving as vacation was ending so I charged overnight and unplugged the next morning. In short, they are well worth the cost - we foresee us getting 10-11 more years of use out of this old golf cart and are excited to have our cart running better than ever.

Purchased these for my wife's 36v golf cart. Replaced the old lead acid batteries that had to be replaced every two years. Works fantastic and lasts 4 times as long with regular use!

Josh Goldade

When I needed to replace my golf cart batteries this spring I reached out to Dakota Lithium. Their staff was extremely helpful and walked me through which option would be the best fit for my golf cart. I received the batteries shortly after placing my order and installed them into my golf cart. The installation process was very easy with the installation kit provided by Dakota Lithium. It has made an incredible different in weight and performance of my golf cart. I am very happy that I decided to switch to Lithium and would recommend Dakota Lithium to anyone looking to replace their batteries.
