Built out of our legendary lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, this battery set requires no maintenance or watering, can be installed in any orientation, and can charge 5X faster then lead acid – giving you more time, and more freedom on and off the green. The best part is a set of Dakota Lithium weighs 1/4 as much as a set of lead acid golf cart batteries, allowing you to cut 300 lbs or more off your cart. New battery package combines 4 of our award winning 12V 60Ah DL+ or 12V 135Ah DL+ dual purpose cranking batteries in series to create a 48V system capable of 1,000 Cold Cranking Amps — enough to start your car engine, and more then enough power for most golf carts. Other brands of lithium batteries in the past have had issues with the battery shutting off because their golf cart needed more amps then the battery could provide. By using automotive technology the DL+ line of batteries provides both the high power needed for even the most rugged of golf carts, while also providing 10 to 16+ miles (60Ah) or 40 to 60+ miles (135Ah) or 90 to 140+ miles (320h) of lasting deep cycle performance. Battery range varies depending on the size of golf cart, the size of the cart’s motor, and terrain.

 

Please note, if you are uncertain about the size of your carts motor or motor controller then the DL+ 135Ah battery (50 mile option) is highly recommended. The DL+ 135Ah battery is the best solution since it is compatible with even the largest motor controllers.

  • Storage Capacity: Choose 60 or 135 Ampere hours (Ah). Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 60 or 135 Amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.

  • Lifecycles (battery lifespan): Up to 80% capacity for 5,000 cycles in recommended conditions. The typical SLA has 500 cycles. Dakota Lithium batteries last so long that the price per use is a fraction of traditional batteries.
  • Operating temperature: Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium’s. -20°F min, +120°F max optimal operating temps (battery performs well down to -20°F). Avoid charging below 32°F.
  • Discharge: 100A max continuous, 650A max pulse 10 second pulse, 1,000 CCA per battery (a single DL+ battery has the power to start your car). The flat discharge voltage curve provides a 75% bigger capacity then a comparable SLA battery.
  • Motor Controller Limit: The 25 mile 60Ah battery is compatible with motor controllers up to 400A and can handle up to 650 Amps of in rush current. The 60 mile 135Ah battery has a 400 Amp max for the motor controller. If you do not know how many amps your golf cart's motor uses then we recommend the 60 mile battery. It is compatible with nearly all golf cart motors on the market.
  • Charge: 50A max, 14V.4V recommended, 15V max.A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery.
  • Includes active BMS protection: Contains a circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff, high voltage cutoff, short circuit protection and high temperature protection for increased performance and longer life. A LiFePO4 battery charger is required to turn the battery back on after a BMS cut off.
  • Cold weather protection: Excellent performance and use down to -20°F. Avoid charging below 32°F. The DL+ batteries include a cold temperature charging protection cut off
  • Internal Heating: The DL+ 135Ah & DL+ 60Ah has internal heating for charging in temperatures below 0°C/32°F. Optimal for winter warriors.
  • Recommended Charger: 48V 8A Charger is recommended. (Sold Separate) Dakota Lithium 48V batteries in series should be charged at 57.6 volts higher than AGM or lead acid. Lead acid chargers will work, but will only charge the battery to 80% of capacity.

  • Twice the Power?

    Yes! Here at Dakota Lithium we build all of our batteries with lithium iron phosphate technology which has many distinct advantages over traditional batteries. Including 60% less weight, a charging speed that is up to 5X faster, and a significantly longer lifespan (5-10 years longer on average). One of the most noticeable advantages however is the flat voltage curve. Unlike a lead acid battery where the voltage drops as you use the battery a Dakota Lithium battery has a steady voltage for 99% of the battery’s charge. That means you get all the power down to the last drop and double the usable power of traditional batteries.

  • Are Lithium Batteries Safe?

    Dakota Lithium batteries are 100% safe & reliable. Our signature chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), does not contain rare earth elements (like Cobalt) or heavy metals, is non-toxic, including no lead or acid, is non-corrosive, does not off gas, requires no watering or maintenance, can be placed in any orientation, and unlike other lithium batteries will not explode or catch fire. In addition, each Dakota Lithium battery is protected from over heating, over charging, and short circuiting, by a battery management system (BMS) microchip that also extends the lifespan and is contained in a rugged, waterproof case (although enough water can conduct electricity between the terminals, so don’t submerse the battery). For best performance & reliability we recommend using a LiFePO4 charger.    

  • How do I charge a lithium battery?

    Dakota Lithium LiFePO4 batteries perform best when charged by a LiFePO4-compatible battery charger. LiFePO4 batteries require a different charging profile and voltage requirements compared to traditional battery chargers. Chargers designed for different chemistries may work, but they may not charge a Dakota Lithium battery to full capacity. It’s important to select a charger that has a LiFePO4-compatible constant-current constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging profile, provides the correct charging voltage for your battery, does not exceed the charge current (amp) for the battery, and has a charge indicator LED to let you know when the battery is fully charged.   • Will cold weather affect my battery?

    Your Dakota Lithium battery will discharge normally between a range of -20F and 120F (-29C to 49C). DL batteries are commonly used among ice fishers for their flashers and ice augers, so they are quite resilient and are frequently used in cold climates. In cases of extreme cold however, it is recommended that the batteries be insulated. We also do not recommend charging our batteries below freezing temperatures. If you are planning to regularly charge your battery below freezing temperatures we recommend the DL+ 12V 135Ah battery which has an internal heating element and is optimal for use in cars, trucks, RVs, off grid solar, and any application where the battery will be charged regularly in extremely cold environments (like a North Dakota winter).

  • Can I use this to start my car/boat engine?

    We have two battery options available for starting motors: the LTO Automotive Cranking battery and the DL+ Dual Purpose line. Both are designed for starting motors, with a 1000CCA equivalent of engine starting power for boat, car, or truck engines. The DL+ line also offers our legendary deep cycle capability in addition to engine starting power. Please note that our standard deep cycle packs do not have cranking ability and cannot be used for starting motors.

  • What battery do I need for my RV or Camper Van?

    The industry standard house battery size used in most RVs, Campers, and #VanLife builds is the DL 100Ah battery. This is a drop in replacement for AGM and most lead acid batteries. If you are charging off your engine’s alternator we recommend a Victron DC-DC smart charger. If charging off solar panels we recommend a Victron Smart Solar charge controller, or if you have a solar charge controller choose the lithium setting.
