While some users have had success with third party chargers, we cannot guarantee compatibility, performance, nor that any third party charger will preserve battery life. We thus recommend purchasing Dakota Lithium chargers for optimal performance.
Please note that although Dakota Lithium batteries are a replacement (and big upgrade) for traditional Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries, old SLA chargers will only partially charge lithium batteries. Typically if you tried to charge a Dakota Lithium battery with a SLA charge your battery would only have a 50-60% charge and the battery will perform at a lower level. This is because the charger must fit the chemistry of the battery. Thus for optimal performance a Dakota Lithium charger is recommended for all Dakota Lithium batteries.
