The Dakota Lithium 12V 46Ah delivers serious power in a compact U1 / Group 21 case, making it a true drop-in replacement for U1 35Ah SLA batteries. With 3X the usable power, 5,000-cycle lifespan, 65% less weight, and reliable all-day performance for fish finders, small trolling motors, mobility devices, and off-grid setups, it is built to go further and last longer.
Description
The Dakota Lithium 12V 46Ah packs powerful lithium performance into a compact U1 / Group 21 case, making it the ideal drop-in upgrade for U1 35Ah sealed lead-acid batteries. Built with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)technology, it delivers 46Ah of consistent power, 552 watt-hours of energy, and a flat voltage curve that gives you steady output from full charge to near empty. That means more runtime, stronger performance, and no dramatic power fade like traditional SLA batteries.
Compared to a U1 35Ah SLA battery, the 12V 46Ah provides 3X the usable power, weighs just 10.5 lbs, and lasts up to 5,000 cycles, giving you exceptional lifetime value in a much lighter package. It is perfect for fish finders, Garmin and Lowrance electronics, small trolling motors under 30 lbs of thrust, mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs, and off-grid power applications where compact size and longer runtime matter.
Designed for rugged use, this battery includes active BMS protection for cell balancing, over-discharge, over-charge, short circuit, and temperature protection. It operates in harsh environments down to -4°F and up to 140°F, and its F12 terminals with M6 bolts make installation simple for U1-compatible setups. Backed by an 11-year warranty, the Dakota Lithium 12V 46Ah is the smarter, longer-lasting upgrade for anyone ready to move beyond traditional lead-acid power.
Technical Specifications
-
11 Year Warranty:
World beating, best in class, eleven year manufacturer defect warranty.
-
Storage Capacity:
46 ampere hours (Ah). Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 46 amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.
-
Voltage:
12.8V (Dakota Lithium 12V batteries can be used in series for up to 48V systems)
-
Size:
7.6”L x 5.1” W x 6.36” H | 194mm x 132mm x 161.55 mm (171mm including terminals). U1 size (Group 21)
-
Drop in Replacement Size U1 35Ah SLA:
U1 equivalent for physical dimensions & terminal compatibility.
-
Energy:
552 Watt-hours (Wh)
-
Terminals:
F12 terminals (posts that screw in) with M6 size bolts. Max torque 15 ft. lbs.
-
Weight:
10.5 lbs (4.75 Kg). 65% lighter than a SLA or lead battery.
-
Lifecycles (battery lifespan):
Up to 80% capacity for 5,000 cycles in recommended conditions. The typical SLA has 500 cycles. Dakota Lithium batteries last so long that the price per use is a fraction of traditional batteries.
-
Operating temperature:
Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium’s. -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C) optimal operating temps. Avoid charging below 32°F.
-
Discharge:
50 A max continuous discharge. The flat discharge voltage curve provides a 3X bigger capacity then a U1 SLA 35Ah battery.
-
Charge:
23A max, 14.6V recommended, 15V max. Please note: this battery should be charged between 32°F to 131°F (0°C to 55°C) and with a LiFePO4 compatible charger.
-
Includes active BMS protection:
Contains a high discharge capable circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff (10V) preventing over discharge, high voltage cutoff (15V) preventing over charging, short circuit protection and temperature protection for increased performance and longer life.
-
Cold temperature charging protection:
No low temperature protection
-
Certifications:
All DL batteries are UN 38 certified. Dakota Lithium's cells are UL1642 certified and have been tested per IEC62133 standards. Meets all US & International regulations for air, ground, train, & marine transport.
-
Trolling Motor Compatibility:
Perfect for trolling motors with 30 lbs of thrust or less. For larger 12v motors the DL+ 12V 60Ah battery is recommended. For 24V & 36V trolling motors the single 24V 60 Ah or 36V 60 Ah batteries are recommended.
-
Recommended Charger:
12V 10A LiFePO4 charger (Sold Separate)
