“Good batteries require good chemistry. I founded Dakota Lithium with Michael to create the longest lasting batteries possible by using great chemistry and strict quality control. My research has allowed us to create our own nanoparticles or nanopowder for use in building high quality batteries. I am proud to see my creations take off, and to help people like you.”
Dr. Yong Hou moved to Grand Forks to teach at the University of North Dakota. In 2004 he met Michael Shope, and helped him manufacture and sell his first invention. Together they started Dakota Lithium. Since then Dr. Hou has focused his research on building the most stable lithium nano-particles for use in high-peformance/long lifespan batteries. His research has been published in multiple journals, and led to the launch of Dakota Lithium’s signature line of batteries. In addition to his research he also provide engineering and executive leadership support to the Dakota Lithium team at our factory in Grand Forks, ND. In addition to starting Dakota Lithium, Dr. Hou also worked with Michael to launch the Hilltopper Electric Bike Company under the parent company Clean Republic.
