Shipping policy

At Dakota Lithium, our goal is to provide transparent and reliable shipping information for our customers. Orders are processed within 24-48 hours upon receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. Orders placed after 5 pm will be processed the next business day. Batteries ship FedEx and will arrive in 5-7 days to most of the US. For shipping quotes to countries outside the United States and Canada, please contact us at sales@dakotalithium.com.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs for Dakota Lithium batteries are calculated per battery due to their classification as hazardous materials (hazmat), ensuring safe and compliant handling and transportation. Shipping costs to Alaska and Hawaii may be higher due to federal law that requires that batteries ship Air Freight and have Hazmat protection.

If you need to return a battery, a 10% restocking fee will apply. For details on our return policy, refunds, order edits, and exchanges, please visit our returns page. In case of lost or damaged orders, contact our support team for assistance. Orders may take longer to arrive due to variables outside of our control. We will communicate any potential delays and provide timeline estimates to keep you informed.

Shipping Policy & Delivery Time

All orders have a 1-3 day lead time to pack and ship your battery from our warehouse. Battery shipments require a physical street address, and shipping a battery to a post office box is not allowed. To comply with FedEx and DOT regulations, batteries are shipped “signature required” upon delivery. Batteries less than 70 lbs. are shipped via FedEx Ground for domestic shipments to the lower 48. FedEx Ground’s average delivery time is 1 to 5 business days, and it delivers Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Weekend delivery is optional, please contact sales when purchasing for more information. Batteries more than 70 lbs. are shipped freight. Typical freight shipping time is 5-8 days. We use FedEx or DHL for international shipments to select countries, Hawaii, and Alaska. Select items shipped internationally may have additional shipping and customs fees, including duty and GST, based on the product’s value. All prices on our website are in USD. To calculate your exact shipping rate, please go to our website, enter your order, checkout, and enter your shipping address. What is the return shipping price for Dakota Lithium?

Return shipping cost depends on the item being returned, your location, and the logistics provider. Before attempting to return a battery, please contact support@dakotalithium.com for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and shipping assistance.

If you are unsatisfied for any reason with one of our batteries you can return it for a refund, less a 5% restocking fee, up to 30 days after shipping date.

What should I do if I do not receive a tracking number within 7 days?

We aim to ship new orders within 1-3 days from the date of purchase. Once your item is packed and shipped, you will receive an email notification containing an order summary, the shipping method, and your tracking number. If you have not received your tracking number within 5-7 days from the date of purchase, please contact sales directly at sales@dakotalithium.com or call 1 855 743 3279.

Do You Have a Military Discount?

Yes! Dakota Lithium support active and former members of the US or Canadian armed forces. You can use the code DakotaMilitary to get a 5% discount at checkout. If you provide verification through email, you will receive an additional 5% off, making the total discount 10%. Please indicate the branch of the military or unit where you served in the order notes. Many veterans and pilots, including one of our founders who flew F-16s, work for Dakota Lithium. When will I receive a tracking number?

You will receive a tracking number by email when your order ships.

Can I get my battery shipped to me faster?

All lithium batteries (LiFePO4 included) must be shipped via ground shipping. Typical delivery time in the US for in stock batteries is 5-7 business days plus 1-3 days lead time to pack and ship your battery from our warehouse.

Lithium batteries cannot be shipped overnight, or express due to federal shipping restrictions.

The USPS does not allow for batteries to be shipped to Post Office boxes (PO Box). For shipping address please use a street address.

How much will import taxes be to my country?

Calculating import taxes can vary depending on your country and the type of goods you’re importing. To help you get started, a general process is to determine the value of your goods, find the applicable customs duty rate for your country, calculate your import duty, and check for additional fees or taxes. The total import taxes you may pay may include an import duty, Value Added Tax (VAT) or Goods and Services Tax (GST), an excise duty (if applicable) and addtional processing, handling, and/or customs clearing fees. These fees and schedules can vary based on location. Please contact your local judiciary office for specific fees and taxation.

Does Dakota Lithium ship internationally?

Yes. Dakota Lithium has the ability to ship batteries internationally from our warehouse in Seattle, Washington. However, shipping restrictions for lithium batteries do apply to a number of countries. Please contact us at sales@dakotalithium.com for more information and about international shipping.

How do I ship my LiFePO4 battery?

When shipping lithium batteries, it is important to carefully follow the regulations set by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the chosen carrier (FedEx, UPS, or DHL). Lithium batteries must be packaged appropriately, including cushioning material, with the terminals protected, and must be accompanied by the required placarding and documentation. Batteries with a capacity of over 300Wh are considered hazardous materials and may require certification to be shipped with a carrier.
